Spring Break 2015

Kylie missed going to preschool during spring break. Every time we buckled up in the car, I would hear her voice from the backseat asking, Are we going to preschool? She did really well on Wednesday while I was on conference calls throughout the day. On Friday I took the day off and we went to Lollipop Park. She rode every ride before deciding on salad for lunch. We went to Sweet Tomatoes and then came home to relax. 

On Sunday we headed to Littleton Museum where Kylie was determined to find the cat. She found her right away before singing Do Re Me to the statue on the bench. When I asked her why the ducks were making a big commotion she said, They're making a lot of noise b/c they know it's my birthday! 

She's been saying the funniest things lately and I try to jot them down so I don't forget. She introduced herself to someone at the park this week & asked the little girl's name in which she replied Shelby. I don't think Kylie has ever heard the name Shelby b/c her response was, Oh Strawberry, right! Just gave me a little chuckle:)

Spring Time a Sing-a-Ling Time

We were getting a little cabin crazy at the end of Feb with the string of snowstorms & colds that lasted for weeks. With the recent spike in temperature we met a couple of our friends at Chatfield to BBQ. Kylie had fun exploring the rolling hills, popping bubbles & throwing rocks into the water. 

Kylie is still in her combo class with Mrs. Melissa & started swimming lessons with Mr. Matt. Chris and I got to watch Kylie during her dance class last week and I found it challenging to separate my roles (mom vs teacher). Her favorite part of class is choosing a princess before bourrees across the floor & shuffles/shuffle hop step during tap. I will post some videos soon:)

January 2015

Although I'm not a big reader, my mom got me The Cure for the Perfect Life for Christmas. I read it cover to cover within a week and still have it sitting on the counter. It's like the author planted a recording device and knew exactly what I was thinking. One of the themes was to be transparent & real vs a mom comes across sunshine & rainbows 24/7. I got sick of looking through SAHM posts on FB who applauded themselves for daily tasks. The new year provided incentive to reevaluate my friendships/acquaintances. The book recommended posting a mix (ie-your life is not perfect 100% of the time). Since I don't post of FB, this is a look into our lives the past month.

Kylie has been extremely challenging! Her strong will, stubbornness, door slamming and temper tantrums have both of us taking deep breaths. When she returned to preschool after Christmas break she threw a snow shovel at someone on the playground. I was so mortified that I couldn't speak until we got home. When we got in the house I told her to go potty. She yelled NO! and threw her sippy cup at the TV & stuffed bear at the fireplace. The front of the glass was brown, bubbly, and smelled like burnt plastic. I thought for sure we would have to replace it. Luckily, a little elbow grease and a razor blade did the trick. When I went to her room to check on her she was standing 2ft off the ground in her dresser drawer. Not sure what God is trying to teach us, but I am counting down the days until she turns 4. 

We have begun to attend story time on a regular basis now that toffee season is over. It's not uncommon for Kylie to ask if we can go feed the ducks after one story. She still loves to explore the outdoors regardless of the temperature. Kylie also started a combo class a few weeks ago and her favorite thing to do is shuffle step. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a music class that worked with our schedule so hopefully she can resume during the summer.
