Weekend Activities

We are one week away from demoing our kitchen & redoing our main floor. We'll be living out of our basement for 5 weeks but it will be well worth it. All the design elements have been chosen with the exception of granite. Who would have thought it's such a mickey mouse process! Slabs are assigned a level/class that usually range from 1-6/7. There are no standards which means levels vary from place to place. A level 4 at one wholesaler could be priced at 6000 while another one might price it at 9000. Another obstacle I've run into is selecting a slab that has already been sold. This happened 3 times b/c most wholesalers don't move/place signage on the slab. Needless to say, I'm still on the lookout... I will post pictures as the project progresses.

Besides packing up our kitchen, my Dad and I went to Chicago on Saturday. The star who played Roxy was amazing and carried the show. The dancers weren't that good, they lacked the details which were defined by Fosse & fell short in their technique.

Saturday night Chris attended a birthday party while Kylie and I stayed home to make pizza and watched Frozen. Kylie was interested for about 20 min & then went back to doing her own thing.

Today, we met Chris' parents for lunch, went to Littleton Museum & introduced Kylie to hop-scotch. She giggled the whole time and thought it was so much fun!

Napping @ Noon

Kylie went 4 days without taking a nap which is especially challenging when I schedule my conference calls around her nap time. Today she broke her record and took a 2.5hr nap at Grandma & Papa's house. If only she would do that here.

Chatfield

Kylie and I took advantage of the nice weather and explored Chatfield this morning. There are so many hidden paths that you feel like you have the place to yourself.

The more I use my portrait lens, the more I love it. Here are a couple of black & whites I took Sunday afternoon. The second one is my fav!

Pictures

I stayed home from work a couple days last week because I could not seem to kick the everlasting cold. After 2.5 weeks I think it's just about over. Here's some pics I snapped along with chocolate covered strawberries Kylie made with my dad today in preparation for Valentine's Day.

January 2014

Looking back, January seems like such a blur. I feel like we spent most of our time indoors since there was a tropical heatwave outside (cue the opening blizzard scene from Grumpy Old Men).

Chris and I finally decided on a preschool which we think Kylie will thrive in next year. It has a small class size ratio 1:6 & the curriculum is biblically based. When I took the initial tour before Christmas they actually had coloring pages of Jesus and Mary hanging on the walls. The program feeds into a private Christian school which we will evaluate when the time comes. Luckily our neighborhood elementary school is one of the top performing schools in the state, but security is always in question nowadays.

I pulled Kylie out dance for a couple weeks because she wasn't listening and wanted to run the last half of the class. A new little girl, Nina, joined the class last week and Kylie got served (JK). Nina is the little sister of one of my former students and listens/dances like a champ. She is the youngest of 4 and has been the easiest to raise according to her mom. Hopefully some of her listening habits will rub off on Kylie.

We took Kylie to the stockshow this year where she enjoyed riding a pony with B, watching the Westernaires & eating overpriced cheese pizza. We made it through the entire rodeo and witnessed some pretty incredible cowboys. I still think it would be fun to ride on a bucking bronco but with less intensity.

Our remaining time was dedicated to work & church. I'm still teaching 2 classes a week & take class on Wed nights. This year we are performing three pieces and I'm in love with two contemporary combos. I will definitely post a clip of one of them soon. Chris attends his small group once a month and I'm still in search for a working mom's group.

Until next time stay warm!
